Marine Eric Alva, who lost his right leg after stepping on a landmine in Iraq, received emergency financial aid from Coalition donors. Hundreds more severely wounded troops just like Eric are facing utility cutoffs, auto repossessions and even evictions during the Easter Season. You can help them by making a special Easter donation today.

Our severely wounded troops who are suffering this Easter Season desperately need your support!
"We were about a mile from base when our vehicle went up in a ball of flames. I was pinned inside with my clothes on fire. I could see the burned skin dropping off my arm. When I finally got out, I fell into a pool of burning fuel and tried to crawl to safety. But both of my arms and legs were broken ..."
Robert W. U.S. Navy
No, this isn't a scene from a movie. It's a real-life nightmare on the mean streets of Iraq, where terrorists ignore all the rules to achieve their grisly ends.
And thanks to a booby trap made of two artillery shells topped with a barrel of fuel, Robert W.'s life will never be the same.
I'm retired General Chip Diehl, and I'm working with the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes to help severely wounded troops just like Robert.
Many have gone into a financial tailspin since being injured and face getting their electricity, phone and water disconnected - or even losing their homes or cars during the Easter Season.
I also want to ask you to take just a few seconds to sign a special THANK YOU and GET WELL card for a severely wounded young Marine, soldier, sailor or airman who really needs your help this Easter Season.
They may be spending Easter in a military or VA hospital.
A THANK YOU and Easter GET WELL card from you could quickly boost their spirits and help in their healing.
All you need to do is enter your personal message when on the donation form, and we will hand-deliver a beautiful THANK YOU and GET WELL card with your name on it to a severely wounded hero who needs some cheering up during the Easter Season.
Your card and donation will be helping someone like Robert W.
Can you imagine the trauma this man has gone through? Third-degree burns over 50 percent of his body. Hands burned all the way down to the tendons. Excruciating pain as burned skin is literally scrubbed off his limbs to encourage healing. Countless surgeries.
But if you were to ask Robert if he had any regrets about serving his country, he'd probably repeat what he said in a recent interview: "I feel proud that I could give my blood for the cause of freedom."
That's the voice of a true hero - and a hero who will need help from you and others this Easter Season.
Many servicemen and women like Robert W. have been wounded so severely that their spouses have been forced to quit their jobs to care for them.
Soon they're struggling to afford basics like clothes, groceries and baby formula. Some will even be at risk of getting their electricity, phone and water disconnected - or even losing their homes or cars during the Easter Season.
"Doesn't the military help them?" you might ask.
Yes and no. The military and the Veterans Administration (VA) do provide some assistance, but far too often, there's a gap in services that leaves many wounded heroes and their families in dire circumstances.
In fact, lost income for a family member forced by circumstances to become a caregiver is not something the military or VA can be counted on to take care of, which is why the support of Americans like you is so important.
A special emergency Easter donation from you can be used to help:
-
PAY rent, mortgage, utilities, and grocery bills during the Easter Season for families like Navy Seabee Greg Reisner's, who went without income for 5 months because of his injuries.
-
RENOVATE the home of a serviceman or woman who's been blinded or paralyzed to make it handicapped-accessible by widening doorways, building wheelchair ramps, and making other accommodations.
-
SEND amputees like Eric Alva, John Porcello, and Jimmy King to a CSAH "Road to Recovery" Conference where they can get the information and support they need to cope with their life-changing wounds.
If everyone who receives this e-mail made a generous contribution, the Coalition would be able to lessen the pain of hundreds more severely wounded GIs this Easter Season.
However, if people ignore this "call to action," there will be some deserving heroes who will have to suffer from much more than their wounds. They'll have to suffer the indignity of not being able to provide for their families at Eastertime, when it matters the most.
Please click here to make a tax-deductible, emergency Easter donation right now.
America's servicemen and women did their part. Can they count on you to do your part again this Easter?
Serving those who served,
Chip Diehl Brigadier General United States Air Force (Retired)
P.S. Your special Easter donation will do far more than you can imagine. Not only will you help a severely wounded GI's family get through perhaps the roughest time they will ever experience, but you'll let our servicemen and women know that you're behind them 100 percent!
